Clan Gathering Program for 2008 - Blairgowrie, Scotland

 

We have organised the 2008 International Clan Gathering to coincide with the Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games. The Gathering will be four full days of activities from morning to bedtime each day, which includes your meals, transport, and entertainment. Here is a brief over overview of the main arrangements throughout the four days:-

Thursday 4th September 2008

10.30am to 2.30pm Registration

12.30 to 2pm informal buffet lunch

2.30pm to 5pm talks (Talks will be on Clan Rattray and Scottish topics of interest).

6.30pm evening two course meal

7.30pm Scottish Musical Entertainment.

Friday 5th September 2008

9.15am prompt Coach trip to Culloden Battle Field to the brand new multi-million pound visitor centre. Includes a battle tour with our own personal battle tour guide. Learn about the part the Rattrays palyed in the battle. We will also visit the new exhibition and video audio presentation on the battle. Buffet lunch will include our four yearly Clan Rattray General Meeting.

Leave Culloden 3.30pm to arrive back to Altamount Hotel, Blairgowrie for 5.30pm.

7.00pm 2 course evening meal

8.00pm Entertainment and demonstrations of ancient Highland dress for both men and ladies.

Saturday 6th September 2008

8.30am Clan Rattray Golf Morning to commemorate John Rattray’s signature under the world’s oldest rules of golf.

12.30 to 1.30pm informal buffet lunch

1.30 to 5pm Coach Tour of Clan Rattray territory and all site of historic interest and visit to Craighall Castle the home of our 29 th Clan Chief Lachlan Rattray of Rattray and his wife Niki.

7 for 7.30pm Main Dinner with our Chief Lachlan Rattray of Rattray and his wife Niki.

9pm to mid night Ceilidh. (A Ceilidh is a traditional Scottish dance which is great fun and easy to follow or watch)

Sunday 7th September 2008

11.15am Church service at Rattray Church

12.30 Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games. We will be part of the opening ceremony, marching on to the games field behind the Games Chieftain. The games include the world’s longest tug of War between the villages of Rattray and Blairgowrie. I am pleased to report that Rattray have never lost when the Clan has been present. There will be a finger buffet for lunch provided in our own marquee at the games field (as in 2004).

Costs

Cost for the 4 days, includes all your meals, transport and entry fees as detailed above is:-

Adults £165 Children (16 years and younger) £95

N.B. You will have to arrange your own accommodation to suit your needs and requirements direct with the accommodation provider of your choice. Accommodation is not included in this price. You will need to allow for any drinks, alcohol and items you want to purchase for yourself from the Clan Highland shop that will be present through out the gathering. We would like to think that for 4-full days of a gathering this represents excellent value for money. We hope you also think so and join us this September 2008.
